Robert P. Garabedian, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at UMass Memorial Health Care.  Born and raised in Worcester, he was a son of Arthur and Mary (Angell) Garabedian.  His beloved wife, Anita E. (Vachon) predeceased him in 1972.

He was a graduate of the former Worcester Boys Trade High School and enjoyed a 40 year career as a General Foreman for the City of Worcester. He was an avid bowler for more than 20 years and be found with his brother, Richie and his wife, Margie at Bogey Lanes in East Brookfield.  He was a huge New England Patriots fan and enjoyed most any sport.  Over the years he enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports as well.  Above all, he was a dedicated father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  Many, many wonderful family memories were made cruising the Caribbean, meeting for breakfast at the 122 Diner in Holden and hanging poolside as the “Unofficial Lifeguard” at home.  He loved to joke and tease, but was also a very patient, humble man and a 45 year laryngeal cancer survivor.

He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his daughters; Linda A. Scott and her husband, William of Rutland and Mary E. Garabedian-Gomez and her husband, Johnny of Rutland, with whom he lived for 24 years; two grandchildren, Randy Scott and his wife, Katie of Webster and Andrea Pettes and her husband, Jake of Rutland; six great-grandchildren, Gracie, Paige, Luke, Ryleigh, Sawyer and Brooklyn; three sisters, Ruth Devio of Northbridge; Joan Rackley of Spencer and Maryann Kennedy of Washington State, and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his wife, he is predeceased by his daughter, Diane T. Beaudin and three brothers, Richard, Raymond, and Edwin Garabedian.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, November 13 from 4 to 7 pm at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.  A funeral service for Robert will be held at 10 am on November 14 at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton. In light of his love of all animals, especially cats, memorial donations may be made to Sweetpea F.O.R. Animals, Inc., 1090 Pleasant Street, Paxton.
