Subscription Update Obituary

Robert M. Stendrup, 92, of Ware, died suddenly on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Baystate Wing Hospital after being stricken ill at home.

He leaves his wife of 66 years, Jane B. (Cadoret) Stendrup; his daughter, Andrea J. Pageau and his son, William C. Stendrup; his grandchidren, David Pageau, Timothy Pageau, Matthew Pageau and Victoria Rose Stendrup; his great-grandchildren, Clementine Pageau, Cameron Pageau, Emily Ann Pageau, Stephen Pageau, James Pageau, Madison Pageau, and Daphne Pageau. He was was predeceased by his son, Robert C. Stendrup, and his sister, Jean Stendrup.  He was born in Freeport, New York, daughter of the late Christian and Bernice (Allbee) Stendrup.  Bob and Jane have lived in Ware for the past 20 years since moving from Worcester.

Bob worked at the former Norton Company as an electrician as well as a machine operator for 28 years.  In his younger years, he worked for the United States Post Office.

Robert is a United States Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War.  He flew as a gunner on over 50 missions, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his acts of heroism while participating in aerial combat.

Private services for interment will be held in Worcester County Memorial Park at a later date.

Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St., in Ware is assisting his family with arrangements.
