Subscription Update Obituary

     Robert L. Johnson, 85, died Friday, Aug. 29th at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, after being stricken ill.

His first wife of 54 years, Joan (Tice) Johnson died in 2010. He leaves his wife, Joan Alfreda (Engstrom) Johnson; his two daughters, Laurie A. Maynard and her husband, Robert of North Oxford and Lisa E. Guerra and husband, Joseph of Sturbridge; his two sons, Christopher R. Johnson of Worcester and Timothy R. Johnson of Worcester; a very close niece, Mary Beth Czaja and her husband Jay of West Brookfield; eight grandchildren, Kristen, Robert, Andrew, Jason, Thomas, Lauren, Catlyn and Sydney; one great grandchild; several nephews and nieces. He was born in Millbury and is predeceased by his parents, Steen and Alma (Wiberg) Johnson, a grandson, Matthew Guerra and a sister, Alma M. Drennen.

Robert owned J&J Linen and Grafton Dry Cleaners and was an avid gardener. He was an Air Force veteran during the Korean War and was a member of the Olive Branch Lodge of Masons in Millbury.

Robert’s funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5th in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster St. in Worcester. A calling hour will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. in the church, prior to the service. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fund of the Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster St., Worcester, MA 01608 or to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave., Waltham, MA 02451.
