Subscription Update Obituary

Robert L. Holdridge, 88, passed away Friday, September 17 in the Auburn Life Care Center under Hospice Care.

He leaves his wife of 66 years, Marlene M. (Sjogren) Holdridge three children, Cheryl D. Brennan and her husband, William of Leicester, Jeffrey R. Holdridge and his wife, Beth of Easton, PA and Amy M. LaPrade and her husband, Dennis of Worcester; five grandchildren, Kimberly, Kyle, Kayla, Brendan and Nathan; four great-grandchildren, Lauren, Conner, Turner and Reese; a brother-in-law, Herbert Sjogren; two sisters-in-law, Juliann Solomon and Carole Stepenides; two cousins, Barbara Forzley and Jeanne Price; a god child, Ron LaFlash and several nieces and nephews. His step-brother, Norman Holdridge was killed in action during WWII.

He was born in Worcester, son of Arthur W. and Gladys L. (Price) Holdridge and graduated from South High School and attended Worcester Junior College. Bob was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, finishing his military career as a jet engine instructor at Sampson Air Force Base. Bob was a proud veteran and remained a member of the Sampson Air Force Veterans Association. He also was the self-proclaimed caretaker of the Quinisgamond Veteran’s Memorial.

Bob worked for 41 years for Babcock Power Company, formerly the Riley Stoker Corporation. He wore many hats through-out his career from a layout draftsman to finally retiring in administrative services. He also held many offices in the RICO Club from club secretary to chairman of entertainment and club photographer. Bob was a member, trustee and the head custodian for Quinisigamond United Methodist Church for over 50 years. He enjoyed fishing in his boat in Lake Singletary, backyard barbeques with his family, especially his grandchildren and country music. He also loved to go for a ride with Marlene in their 1954 Pontiac Starchief and attend car shows. He was a member of the Pontiac-Oakland Club.

A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, September 25 at Noon in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Quinisgamond United Methodist Church, 9 Stebbins St., Worcester, 01607 or to Veterans, Inc., 69 Grove St., Worcester, 01605. Arrangements in the care of Lindquist Lundin Funeral Home, 36 Butler St., Worcester.
