Subscription Update Obituary

Robert L. Goddu, 81, of Alton, New Hampshire, and formerly of Worcester, died Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at his home after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 61 years, Joan M. (Ross) Goddu; his daughter Deborah Robert; his son Robert L. Goddu, Jr.; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

His brother Ernest G. Goddu died in 1999.

Robert was born in Worcester, son of Ernest L. and Dorothy (Thibault) Goddu. He lived in the Nashua, N.H. area for many years before moving to Alton.

Robert was a Korean War veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a drafting engineer for the Heald Machine Co. in Worcester for many years. He later worked in the electronics industry before becoming a communications technician for the Federal Aviation Administration. He retired in 1978.

He was a member of the Masons and belonged to the American Legion for many years.

The graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 26 at 11 a.m. in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2 Commerce Drive, Bedford, NH 03110.

The Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, is directing arrangements.
