Subscription Update Obituary

      Robert J. Gerber Sr., 78, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. He was predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Judith A. (Collette) Gerber of Oxford who died in 2005; and a son, Mark C. Gerber. He is survived by three sons, Robert J. Gerber Jr. and his wife Michelle of Worcester, Matthew E. Gerber and his wife Debra of Worcester, and Michael C. Gerber and his wife Lori of Leicester; a sister, Mary Madore of Leicester; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Brendan, Brittany, Erin, and Michael Gerber; a great-granddaughter, Sophie Cook; and many nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Edmund D. and Anna M. (Leduc) Gerber, and lived most of his life in Worcester and Oxford.

Mr. Gerber was a mechanic at Parkway Transmission in Worcester for 30 years, retiring in 1998. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, and he enjoyed fishing and camping.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Meadows of Leicester and the ICU at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, for the exceptional care given to Robert.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. A calling hour will be Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
