Subscription Update Obituary

Robert “Nellie” I. Nelson, 87, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Health Alliance Leominster Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Princeton, the son of Jesse and Mildred (Brownson) Nelson and had lived most of his life in Princeton.
He leaves his wife of 62 years, Mildred L. (Hall) Nelson; a son, David E. Nelson and a sister, Shirley Hubbard both of Princeton; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.
Nellie was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater with Company K 4025th Signal Service Group and received a Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Service Star. He was an auto technician for many years working with several companies including 495 Truck Repair in Marlborough, Fleet Electrical Service, Jenkins Robinson Auto Service and Christie Thompson Auto Supply all in Worcester. Previously he worked as a carpenter for Bell Builders in the Worcester area and also had a part-time home business repairing TV’s and radios. Nellie was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and camping in his spare time. He loved spending time with his family and taking trips to their camp in Maine.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour on Friday, March 30, at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral home service at 11 a.m. in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A committal service with military honors will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
