Subscription Update Obituary

Robert E. Gignilliat, Sr., 91, of 88 Masonic Home Road passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, November 4, 2022 in Overlook Masonic Health Center.

He leaves his son Robert E. Gignilliat, Jr. and his wife Ry of Chicopee, a daughter Diane Francis of Burnt Church, Canada, a brother Brian Smith of Auburn, a sister Della MaGee of Auburn, his former daughter-in-law Ann
Geldart of Sutton, 15 grandchildren; Crystal, Chi Ann, Randy, Bonnie, Shane, Angel, Xavier, Whinona, Isahia, Melinda, Jeffrey, Amanda, Anjelica, Aubree and Jasmine, 36 great grandchildren, 16 great- great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased. by two brothers; Russell Smith and Thamass Gignilliat, Sr., a sister Bernice Fawe, a daughter Sharan Smith, a granddaughter Christine Montalvo and great grandsons Devon and Kaiden. Also predeceased by his ex wife and life long friend Barbara Gignilliat- Morris.

Robert was born in Oxford, Ohio, son of Claude and Florence (Collins) Gignilliat. He proudly served his country in Germany during World War II in the United States Army. He worked at PresMet Corp. GKN Sinter Metals for 45 years retiring in 1995. After retiring Robert loved spending time with his grandchildren attending school field trips, sporting events, taking long walks and enjoying nature with them. He enjoyed watching old western movies, working on cars and woodworking.

The family would like to thank the staff at Overlook Masonic Health Care for their compassionate and loving care they gave to Robert for the past 3 years. Robert will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him; leaving behind memories of his mysterious ear wiggle and famous woody the woodpecker laugh. “We all love you with all of our hearts, forever and ever and always and beyond times infinity”

Family and friends will celebrate his life with a visiting hour on Thursday, November 10th from 10:00AM until 11:00am at the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will conclude at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
