Robert C. “Bob” Dunham, 96, of Worcester passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 8, at the Christopher House surrounded by his loving family. Bob attended Commerce High School in Worcester and later enlisted in the US Navy at age 18, where he served on the USS Clarence L. Evans DE 113 (1943-1945).
Following his years of service, Bob married his high school sweetheart, Lorraine M. Labossiere, a love affair that lasted for 77 years. He worked at Norton Company in Worcester for 43 years, and later enjoyed his retirement years in Cape Cod and Florida. Bob loved music and working at Carl Seder’s music store during his high school years, as well as visiting the dog track and playing cards.
Bob leaves his beloved wife Lorraine M. Dunham; daughter, Deborah A. Valcourt and her partner Joseph Power; and son, Ronald W. Dunham and his wife Suzanne; grandchildren Mark J. Belanger and his wife Nicole of Boylston, MA; Neil Belanger and his partner Mary Beth Bonina of Grafton, MA; Sean M. Dunham and his wife Patricia of Superior CO; Corey B. Dunham and his partner Jen Sanford of Berlin, MA; Ryan W. Dunham and his wife Audrey of Northborough, MA; Laurie A. Dziokonski and her husband Norman of Sterling, MA; and, Robert P. Dunham, Jr.; Great-grandchildren Cavin, Jordan, and Madison of Boylston, MA; Summer of Grafton, MA; Iain and Ronan of Superior, CO; Steven, Declan, and Avery of Berlin, MA; Haley and Alex of Northborough, MA; Kayla, Dylan, Norm, and Alina of Sterling, MA; Isabella Dunham; and nephew, Alan Chaput. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Katherine (Duffy) Dunham; sisters, Shirley Kelley and Dorothy Wall; brother, William Dunham; and son, Robert P. Dunham.
The Dunham family would like to extend a sincere appreciation to the dedicated staff at Christopher House for their ongoing compassionate care shown to Bob over several years. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bob’s honor to the Christopher House of Worcester, C/O Activity Department, 10 Mary Scano Drive, Worcester, MA 01605, Please add in the memo line on the check, in memory of Bob Dunham. or a charity of your choice. Private funeral services were held.
