Richard “Dick” Manfield, 80, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, August 11, 2023 after a brief illness. He was proud veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1960-1966. He leaves behind his wife of 59 years Madeleine M. (Gosselin) Manfield of Charlton, MA. Two children, Carolyn A. Manfield and her fiancé Jeff Barber, of Spencer, MA and Craig R. Manfield and his wife Kathryn, their three daughters Abigail, Elizabeth and Emily of Spencer, MA; a brother James Manfield of NH; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson Ryan C. Manfield, his sister Patricia LaMarche, and his brother John Manfield.

Dick was born in Worcester, son of the late James Manfield, Sr. and Margaret (Trelligan) Manfield. He retired from Shaw’s Supermarket’s, working grocery distribution management for 45 years.

Richard was an avid sports fan, history buff and loved movies. His other passion was umpiring baseball at various levels, from little league, senior league and high school baseball, hi-lighted during Little League tournaments such as playoffs, state finals and at Williamsport, PA, during little league championship series.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Overlook Masonic Home for their compassionate care of Richard during his illness.

According to Dick’s wishes, there are no calling hours. A celebration Mass will be held at Saint Joseph’s Church at 10 H Putnam Rd. Charlton, MA on Friday August 18 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dick’s memory may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation.
