Subscription Update Obituary

     Richard S. Lacroix, 80, of Spencer died Wednesday, Nov. 12 in his home after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 53 years, Leona E. (Cassavant) Lacroix, a son Timothy R. Lacroix of Leicester, a daughter Brenda G. Palmer and her husband Jeffrey of North Brookfield, a brother Peter Lacroix and his wife Jane of Spencer, four grandchildren Stephanie, Mark, Brenden & Olivia, several nieces and nephews and a longtime close friend Dick Taylor of Spencer. He was pre-deceased by a granddaughter Christine Hansen and a brother Roger Lacroix.

Mr. Lacroix was born in Spencer, son of Stephen A. and Aline (Goddard) Lacroix. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a letter carrier in the Town of Spencer for the United States Postal Service for 29 years retiring in 1998. He was a former member of the American Legion Post 138. He was a past member of the Spencer Rescue Squad and served as an on call volunteer for the Spencer Fire Department for many years. He and his wife volunteered for the Spirit of Christmas committee for several years. He was a former member of the Spencer Board of Health and was a past Spencer Fence Viewer. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. He enjoyed gardening, yard work and fishing.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 15 from J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church Street, Spencer. Burial in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Friday, Nov. 14 from 5:00-7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Overlook Hospice 88 Masonic Home Road, Charlton, MA 01507 or to Rosary Food Pantry, 60 Maple Street, Spencer, MA 01562.
