Richard L. Iannotti, 72 of Sylvania, Georgia, formerly a longtime resident of Worcester and North Oxford, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center.
Richard was born in Worcester, a son of the late Peter and Doris (Raymond) Iannotti, Sr. He was a graduate of North High School. Richard served his country proudly in the Vietnam War for the United States Navy where he was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with Two Bronze Stars. He worked as a postal worker for the United States Postal Service for 32 years retiring in 2010. He was an active member of the local VFW #7116 in Georgia.
Richard was an avid fisherman who recently discovered a love for camping and traveled around the US doing just that. He loved to tinker on and fix things as well as spending time with his family and friends. Richard never passed up a chance to play a game of cards or go to the casino and he always enjoyed a good cup of Dunkin’s coffee.
Richard is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Taylor) Iannotti; his son, Richard T. Hunt and his wife Karin of Millbury; two daughters, Dawn Atchue and her husband Scott of Grafton and Lisa Iannotti and her significant other Dennis Piccirillo of Florida; a step-son, Casey Taylor of Georgia; two brothers, James and Robert Iannotti both of Worcester; three sisters, Barbara White of Spencer, Jane Belanger of Kentucky and Dianne Carano of Florida; ten beloved grandchildren, Angelina, Jordan and Giavanna Hunt, Anthony Iannotti, Olivia and Benjamin Atchue, Cristian and Zachery Taylor and Isabella and Sophia Piccirillo; many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two brothers, Peter Jr. and Raymond Iannotti.
Services for Richard will be held on Monday, July 25, 2022 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St.., Worcester. Burial with military funeral honors will following Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours on Sunday, July 24th from 2-6 pm in the funeral home.
