Subscription Update Obituary

    Richard J. "Dickie" Pike, 70, of Deltona, FL, formerly of Worcester and Shrewsbury, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 in Florida.

    Richard is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Joanne R. (DeJoinville) Pike; a son, Richard J Pike and his wife Teresa of Worcester; three daughters: Judith A. Pavone and Maureen A. Burroughs both of Deltona, FL and Colleen M. Shanahan and her husband Kevin of Shrewsbury; two brothers: Robert F. Pike and his wife Frances of West Boylston and Fredrick M. Pike of Worcester; two sisters: Barbara A. Lamoreaux and her husband Richard of Bellingham and Patricia S. Densmore of Worcester; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Three brothers: Ambrose Pike, Jr., William C. and John R. Pike predeceased him. Richard was born is Worcester, the son of the late Ambrose J. Pike, Sr. and Helen G. (Preston) Pike. He lived many years in Worcester and Shrewsbury before moving to Florida recently.

    Dickie worked in the maintenance department for Hahnemann Hospital, more than 15 years before retiring. He previously worked many years for The Worcester Foundation for Experimental Biology in Shrewsbury.

    Richard loved to go camping and on vacations with his family, he loved playing cards and doing puzzles. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

    Richard's funeral will be held Monday, April 19th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Saint George's Church, 40 Brattle Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, MA. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Sunday, April 18th from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
