Richard H. Ekberg, 90, of Worcester passed away into restful sleep and peace on Thursday morning, December 7, 2017 at the Soldiers’ Home In Holyoke. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Anton P. and Corrine V. (Dube) Ekberg. After high school, Richard served in the United States Navy, during World War II. He went on to work for Norton Company until his retirement. Richard was a very proud American and loved his country. He enjoyed gardening and always had beautiful vegetable and flower gardens. But his true enjoyment was spending time with his family. He was a proud and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Richard is survived by wife of 45 years, June M. (Chamberlain) Ekberg; his daughter, Sandra Zona-Richard of Shrewsbury; his two sons, Jeremy Coughlin of Holden and Frank Coughlin of Worcester; a brother, Raymond Ekberg of Millbury; three grandsons; a granddaughter; one great great grandson and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a daughter, Karen Coughlin and two sisters, Beverly Yacuzzi and Carol.

Richard’s Funeral and burial at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton were held privately.
