Raymond W. Fluet, 92, of Auburn, formerly of Worcester, passed away at Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Worcester on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.

Ray leaves his wife of 71 years, Doris (Bedard) Fluet. He also leaves his children Joseph and his wife Kathleen of Leicester, Joan Bellerose and her husband Paul of Worcester, Chuck and his wife Corinne of Worcester and Mary Peters and her fiancé John Chaves of Auburn. He was predeceased by his daughter Judy Castanera. Ray was also the proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Born in Fitchburg on April 1, 1930, he was the youngest of three children to the late Edward and Marie Louise (Pouliot) Fluet. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Bertrand and Gerard Fluet. Ray graduated in 1947 from St. Bernard High School in Fitchburg. He joined the Army National Guard in 1950, served in the Army from 1953-1955 and also served in the Army Reserves for three years.

Ray established Ray Fluet Carpet Service in 1971 and retired from his business in 1995.

Ray was an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Church for 46 years where he was also a Eucharistic Minister. He continued this work at Blessed Sacrament Church when his previous church closed. He belonged to the First Friday Club, Knights of Columbus (3rd and 4th degree) and the American Legion.

Ray had many accomplishments during his lifetime including carpeting the Green Room of the White House and the Pentagon during John F. Kennedy’s presidency. He was a longtime supporter of the Ted Williams Little League and was recognized at a dedication ceremony. Over his lifetime he donated platelets through Pheresis to the American Red Cross 99 times.

He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He could often be found attending his grandchildren’s many sporting activities Some of his hobbies included candlepin bowling and playing cards.

Calling hours will be on Monday, January 30, 2023 from 9:00-11:00 AM in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME. 91 Central Street, Auburn followed a funeral Mass celebrated at 11:30 AM at North American Martyr’s Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
