Subscription Update Obituary

     Raymond R. Brote Jr., 73 of Shrewsbury died peacefully Monday, November 30, 2015 in St. Vincent Hospital Worcester surrounded by his loving family.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joanne M. Brote (Contonio-Hull) whom he deeply loved; a son David M. Brote of Shrewsbury; a daughter Susan M.Brote-Guinto of Shrewsbury. He also leaves five grandchildren; D.J Brote, Gianna Guinto, Tiana Brote, Blake Brote, and Arianna Guinto. Raymond was predeceased by his oldest grandson Matthew R. Brote. Ray also leaves a brother Dennis Brote and two sisters Judith Morton and Patricia Sullivan and her husband William. His brother-in-law Robert J. Morton also predeceased him. He also leaves many other brothers and sister-in-law’s, nephews, nieces and cousins

Raymond was born in Worcester on May 22, 1942. He was the son of the late Raymond R. Brote Sr. and Yvonne E. (Rousseau) Brote. Raymond served his country in the United States Army National Guard 1st BN 181st Infantry.

Ray was a self-employed carpenter, owner of J &R Builders, framing hundreds of houses in the Worcester County area for many years. He also worked for his sons company Dave Brote and Sons before retiring in 2008.

Ray always looked forward to his yearly hunting trip to Jackman, Maine where he shot many deer over 200 lbs. He also loved fishing for the” big one”, canoeing and camping. Ray loved to vacation yearly in Florida with his family and friends where there were many laughs and memories. He also enjoyed trips to the casino with his sister and brother-in-law. Raymond also found time in his busy schedule to volunteer and be a Shrewsbury Youth Hockey Coach for many years.

Ray is going to be sadly missed by all that knew him especially his dog Katie Jane.

Family and friends are invited to join with the Brote Family for visiting hours from 3 to 6 pm on Monday, December 7, 2015 at Mercadante Funeral Home and Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Ray’s funeral service will follow at 6pm in the funeral home. Burial will be held privately in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton at a later date.
