Subscription Update Obituary

Raymond C. Largess, 87, of Leicester, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 19th in Rose Monahan Hospice Home surrounded by family following an illness. He leaves his daughters; Amy Largess and Laurie Largess both of Leicester, Gina Gilbert and her husband James of Blackstone, Karen Chickering-Petrello of Quinebaug, CT., 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, his beloved dogs; Jingle and Cupid, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife; Lois A. (Letourneau) Largess of 43 years, a son; Andrew Largess, a granddaughter; Haley Burrelli, a brother; Paul Largess, and two sisters; Beatrice Toney and Bella Burritt.

Ray was born in Worcester, the son of Louis and Louisa (Cotnoir) Largess. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School, Carpentry Department, and later served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he was the recipient of a National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the American Legion and Carpenters Union. Ray was an avid collector of coins, stamps, and steins and was always ready with a story or joke to brighten someone’s day.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Rose Monahan for their wonderful care and compassion.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester. A private graveside service with Military Honors will be held in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Second Chance Animal Services, P.O. Box 136, E. Brookfield, MA 01515.
