Subscription Update Obituary

     Rachel M Gooley, age 83, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2021 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, ME after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born in Gardner, MA on March 24, 1937, daughter of the late Arthur and Aurore (Breault) Cormier. After graduating from Marie-Joseph Academy in Biddeford Pool, ME she trained to be a laboratory technician. She went on to work in many hospitals in Massachusetts, Texas, and Florida over a period of 40 years.

Rachel enjoyed many crafts, especially wood carving of birds. She won many ribbons for her birds in competition in state of Maine events. She also loved oil painting and working with ceramics and plaster. She had her own little shops and taught others her crafts. She loved playing scrabble, lighthouses, and spending time near the ocean and beaches.

She is predeceased by a sister, Claire Fontaine; brothers Ronald Cormier, Herve Cormier, and Paul Cormier.

Rachel is survived by her brothers Omer Cormier of Westminster, MA, Gerard and wife Catherine Cormier of Templeton, MA and Alfred and wife Therese Cormier also of Templeton, MA.

She is also survived by her 4 children; daughters Christine Collins of Wells, ME, and Cynthia and husband Wayne Clark of Hubbardston, MA; sons Mark and wife Jacqueline Boudreau of Athol, MA, and Gordon Gooley of Goodyear, AZ. Also 5 grandchildren; Bryce, Andrew, Raymond, Kevin and Nicholas. And many nieces and nephews.

Date of service to be determined and will be held at Worcester Memorial Park at 217 Richards Ave in Paxton, MA 01612.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Southern Maine at 390 US Route One, Scarborough, ME 04074.
