Subscription Update Obituary

Pennie (Best) Yelverton, 93, of Worcester, died peacefully Wednesday, October 11th in University Commons after suffering a stroke. Her husband, Thomas Yelverton died in 1975. She is survived by her son, Johnnie B. Yelverton, Sr. and his wife Earlena B. of Worcester, 2 grandsons, Rev. Johnnie B. Yelverton, Jr. and Clifford Porter both of Worcester, a nephew, James Best of Fremont, NC, whom she raised, 3 nieces, Perine wife of Robert L. Harper and Ada Ruth wife of John Herring, both of Dudley, NC and Mary Louise Daniels of Alexandria, VA and several grandnephews and grandnieces. Her sister, Mary Francis Taylor predeceased her.

She was born in Fremont, NC, the daughter of John and Mandy (Ellis) Best and lived here for 40 years. She was employed by the Belmont Home for 28 years working as a nurse's assistant. Mrs. Yelverton was a member of Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall in Worcester. She loved crocheting, singing, cooking and telling people about stories she read in the Bible.

Calling hours are Monday, October 16th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM with a service at 5:30 PM in O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 17th at 10:00 AM in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
