Paul H. Raymond, Sr., 93, of Rutland, died peacefully on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center. Born and raised in Holden, Paul was the son of George N. and Esther L. (Malmberg) Raymond and lived 41 years in Rutland. He graduated from Holden High School and worked at Worcester Envelope Co. in Worcester for over 40 years retiring as the Vice President of Sales in 1985. He honorably served his country with the United States Navy during World War II and participated in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre aboard the USS Richland.
Paul was a member of the Rufus Putnam Masonic Lodge in Rutland and was an adult mentor with its DeMolay Chapter. Paul was proud of and well known for restoring, buying and selling antique cars, especially Model A’s and was a member of the Wachusett Antique Car Club. He enjoyed vacationing with his wife at their winter residence in Lutz, Florida and loved to be with family and friends.
His beloved wife of 69 years, Barbara C. (McNutt) Raymond, passed away in 2012. He is survived by three sons, Paul H. Raymond, Jr. and his wife, Linda of Worcester, James D. Raymond and his wife, Rebecca of Wells, VT and J. Scott Raymond of Nashua, NH; his daughter, Sandra J. Koons and her husband, Ronald of Evergreen, CO; a brother, Harry Raymond of Waterbury, CT; a sister, Jeanne Occhipinti of Princeton; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. Paul was predeceased by two brothers, Kenneth and Richard Raymond; and a sister, Peggy Kingdon.
Relatives and friends are invited attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Masonic Ritual at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A funeral service honoring Paul’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, at the funeral home. A private committal service will be held at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
