Subscription Update Obituary

Paul D. Tziachris, 82, of Worcester, passed away Wednesday, June 30th at home with his loving family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bessie (Galanis) Tziachris; two sons, James Tziachris and his wife, Lisa of East Brookfield and Peter P. Tziachris and his wife, Kathy of Cumberland, RI; his daughter, Esther Tziachris and her fiance, Dennis Griffin of Worcester; three brothers, Stathis Tziachris and his wife, Katie of Athens, Greece, Lambros Tziachris and his wife, Maria of Anavra, Greece and Aleko Tziachris and his wife, Dina of Canada; his sister, Xanthi Platitsas of Kalapothi, Greece; eight grandchildren, DeAndra and her fiancé Michael Mozeak, Alexcia, Hannah, Paul James and Emma Tziachris, Jordan, Joshua and Aleah Huard; and two great-grandchildren, James and Sofia Mozeak. He was predeceased by two brothers, Panagiotis and Tilemachos Tziachris and a grandson, Isiah Zachary.

Paul was born in Petrilia, Greece the son of Dimitrios and Efstathia (Kouklari) Tziachris and came to Worcester in 1968. He had served in the Greek Army, specializing in communications. He had been employed by Astra Pharmaceutical for many years before retiring in 1995. Paul was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, and enjoyed his home at Old Orchard Beach, and was an avid gardener. His greatest joy was time spent with family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

His funeral is Saturday, July 3rd with a service at 10:00 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. His visitation will be held from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. at the cathedral. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family with arrangements.
