Patricia A. (Parker) Melendy, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 26, 2021. She was born in Holden, the daughter of the late Stanley L. and Dorothy L. (Allen) Parker.
Patricia’s journey through life was guided by the Holy Spirit and fueled by a heart full of compassion and grace. While growing up she spent much time on the family dairy farm and developed a love for animals, especially horses. Throughout her life Patricia would enjoy owning and caring for horses and found inner peace being around them. She graduated from West Boylston High School with the class of 1960 and worked for a time as an Administrative Assistant at the former Norton Co. in Worcester. She married the love of her life, Norman R. Melendy and the couple stayed in West Boylston where they shared 58 years of marriage.
Patricia devoted much of her life to supporting her family at home and with all of their endeavors. She was a Girl Scout Leader, family party planner, church volunteer, animal care-taker and foster mother among many other jobs. Recently Patricia enjoyed attending Living Word Church of Worcester where she leaves many dear friends. Patricia had a special gift for recognizing when others were in need and was never afraid to help no matter what the cost.
Patricia is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Norman R. Melendy; her children, Pamela A. Gaffney and her husband, Kevin of Clarendon Hills, IL, Scott R. Melendy of Wakefield and April M. Melendy of West Boylston; her grandchildren, Kevin J. Gaffney and Abigael L. Gaffney; her brothers, Robert A. Parker and his wife, Carolyn of SC and Kenneth C. Parker and his Fiancee, Rose Guzman of Worcester; her sisters-in-law, Carolyn Parker and Robin Parker; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Donald C. Parker and Gary L. Parker.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 3 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Funeral Service will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, December 1st at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richard’s Ave., Paxton. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
