Subscription Update Obituary

Patricia A. (Hoey) Balcom, 88, beloved wife of the late John J. Balcom, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at CareOne at Millbury. Born and raised in Worcester, she was a daughter of the late James and Mary (Ryan) Hoey.

Patricia graduated from St. Peter’s Central High School. She went on to enjoy a long career with the Paul Revere Life Insurance Company where she worked as a supervisor and senior administrative assistant. She retired in 1993 after many years of dedicated service. Patricia was a faithful member of St. George Church in Worcester. In her spare time she could often be found gardening, painting pictures and spending time with family.
She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her son, David Balcom and his wife, Pamela of Leicester; her grandson, John Boguzis of Leominster; two great-grandchildren, Ayva Connor and Jakoda Bradford; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to John, her husband of 59 years, she was predeceased by her two sisters, Barbara Hynes and Mary Tuppen.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with her family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22 in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23 at St. George Church, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton where she will be laid to rest beside her husband. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
