Subscription Update Obituary

Paolina L. (Aureli) Jacques, 92, of Leicester died Friday, August 5th at home surrounded by her loving family. Her husband of over 50 years, James P. Jacques, Sr. died in 2009. She leaves a son, Luigi Jacques, and his wife, Marilyn of Shrewsbury; two daughters, Rosemarie Bauckman and John Dicken of Leicester, and Margaret Westgate of Dudley; daughter-in-law, Denise Jacques of Leicester; six grandchildren, James Bauckman, Samantha Ortiz and her husband, Eric, Matthew Jacques, Jennifer Covello and her husband, Michael, and Jessica Jacques, and Ashley Westgate; nine great-grandchildren, Isabella, Tyler, Eric, Lucas, Keegan, Charlotte, Addison, Aurora, and Jordyn. She also leaves her extended family in Italy. She was predeceased by her son, John Jacques; two grandsons, Adam Jacques and Christopher Westgate.

She was born in Bologna, Italy the daughter of Luigi and Luigia Aureli. Paolina worked at Hanamen Hospital for over 30 years in the Central Sterilization Department, retiring in 1992. The Leicester Senior Center was a second home to Paolina where she loved knitting with the “Golden Needles” group. Paolina’s greatest joy was giving to others, she did that with the Golden Needles by knitting blankets, hats and mittens for her community. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and adventures with her friend, Pat. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services and burial will be private. There are no calling hours. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Paolina’s name to the Leicester Senior Center, 40 Winslow Ave, Leicester, MA 01524.
