Subscription Update Obituary

     Omer Duval, 81, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016 at home with his loving family at his side after A 19 month struggle with esophageal cancer. Omer was born in Webster, MA. He is the son of the late Omer and Anna (Pluta) Duval.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years Jacqueline (Bazinet) Duval; two daughters: Desiree Duggan and her husband Jeffrey of Webster, Diane Plasse and her husband Denis of Dudley, and one son: Gregory Duval and his wife Cheryl of Dudley and one brother: Ralph Duval and his wife Kathryn of FL; five grandchildren Nicholas Duggan and his wife Amy, Michelle Charron and her husband Matthew, Jennifer McGrail and her husband Ryan, Matthew Duval and Abigal Duval; two great-grandchildren Jeffrey Charron and Landon McGrail; many nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Bartlett High School 1952. Omer joined the Navy and graduated from Sonar School and served as a Radio/Sonar Man aboard the USS Nimble and USS Doyle during the Korean Conflict.

He retired in 1995 from Dudley Charlton Regional School District and enjoyed his work as a Custodian. Omer was a long time supporter of the Webster-Dudley Boys & Girls Club and Dudley Little League, was a member of American Legion Post 184, past member of Kosciusko Society and their pitch league. He enjoyed ice fishing, playing cards, an avid sports fan and horse racing enthusiast.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 AM on Wednesday, January 27 at Sacred Heart Of Jesus Church, 16 East Main St., Webster, MA with Rev. Adam Reid officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.

Calling hours will be Tuesday January 26 from 4 to 7 PM at Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel, 33 Schofield Ave., Dudley, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Cancer Center at Harrington Hospital, 55 Sayles St., Southbridge, Ma. 01550.
