Subscription Update Obituary

     Norman L. Hirtle, 77, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center University Campus. He leaves his wife Marcia (Maunus) Hirtle; 4 children, Donna Hirtle of Rutland, David Hirtle of Shrewsbury, Dean Hirtle of Uxbridge and Drew Hirtle of Westborough; 3 step children, Todd Rainey of Charlton, Brenda Dubord of Berlin, New Hampshire, Mark Rainey of Worcester; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a sister, Beth Hirtle of Worcester and several nieces and nephews.

Norman was born in Worcester, son of the late Charles and Agnes (MacQueston) Hirtle. He graduated from Commerce High School earned an Associates Degree from Quinsigamond Community College and a Bachelor’s Degree from Worcester State College. He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corp. for 6 years including in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church, a member of the Marine Corp League, and a member and former Commander of the VFW Post 3657. He enjoyed deep sea fishing, watching the Patriots, and spending time with his family- especially his grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2020 from 4-7 p.m in Nordgren Funeral Home, 300 Lincoln St. Worcester, MA 01605. The funeral service and burial in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Norman’s memory may be made to either the Wounded Warriors or Veterans Inc 69 Grove St. Worcester.
