Subscription Update Obituary

Norman G. Mills, 94, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at the UMass Memorial Healthcare – University Campus after an illness. He was born in Boston, the son of Harold and Florence Mills and had graduated from Northeastern University and Boston University.

His loving wife of 65 years, Jean E. (Griffin) Mills, passed away in 2014. He leaves his sons, Gordon Mills and his wife, Bonnie and Stephen Mills and his wife, Leanne all of Worcester; his grandson, Michael Mills of Worcester; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Bradford A. Mills in 2019.

Norman was the head of the science department at Wachusett Regional High School for 34 years retiring in 1989. Norman was a longtime judge of the Wachusett Science Fair and was one of the founding members of the Science Seminar at the school. He was a member of the judging committees for the science fairs at MIT and WPI. Always keeping busy with various committees and science groups, Norman has been recognized with numerous awards for the countless projects he has worked on over the years. He enjoyed traveling, collecting stamps and had an interest in aircraft. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Worcester and volunteered at the Gale Free Library book cellar.

Norman’s family would like to thank the staff at Christopher House in Worcester for their loving care these last few months.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Norman’s family on Friday, June 25th from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. followed by a service at 12:30 p.m. in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gale Free Library, 23 Highland Street, Holden, MA 01520.
