Michael J. “Mike” Roy, 58, of Rutland, died Thursday, February 8th, in St. Vincent Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves a son, Andrew J. Roy and his partner, Ryan of Fitchburg; three daughters, Alyssa M. Fleming and her husband, Brandon of Worcester, Amanda E. Roy and Anna M. Roy both of Holden; the mother of his children, Kimberly A. (McConville) Roy; a brother, Kevin F. Roy and his wife, Kathleen of Worcester; an aunt, Mary (Mulvey) Prince; three nieces; cousins and extended family. Mike also leaves his grand dog and a close friend, Mark Alarie.

He was born in Worcester the son of Joseph J. and JoAnne M. (Mulvey) Roy. Mike was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and a devout catholic. His dedication to being a devout Catholic, along with his involvement in St. Patrick’s Church, had a significant impact on his spiritual life and his connection with his faith. A Fourth Degree Knight at St. Patrick’s Church Council 16001 indicates his dedication to serve others. He was also a member at St. John Paul II Assembly, Townsend.
Mike worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for over 30 years as a social worker and also worked part-time for Mechanics Hall as security for over 20 years. He played a vital role in our community, helping families navigate challenges, providing support, and advocating for their well-being. A member of the Coldbrook Snowmobile Club and the Mass Cruisers.

Family and pets were the central part of Mike’s life, he cherished the relationships he had with his loved ones.
His funeral is Wednesday, February 14th with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 258 Main Street, Rutland. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick’s Church Food Pantry.
