Subscription Update Obituary

     Melvin P. Mondino, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday October 25, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family. He leaves a daughter Susan Mondino; 6 sons- Mitchell, Ronald, Kevin, Fran, Rob and Melvin Jr.; 21 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Beverly (Comeau) Mondino, a sister, and 2 brothers.

Melvin was born in Worcester, son of the late John and Helen (Hood) Mondino. He grew up on Lake Quinsigamond. Proudly served his country in the US Army in Korea and worked for many years as a roofer for the Roofers & Waterproofers Union #33. He was a former member of the Chestnut Congregational Church. He enjoyed fishing, cards and cribbage, trains, dogs, music, food, fires and folly and recently enjoyed making apple pies with his granddaughter. He was a loyal patron at the Boulevard Diner in Worcester for over 80 years.

A graveside service and burial will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations in Melvin’s memory may be made to Second Chance Animal Services Adoption Center 111 Young Rd, E. Brookfield MA 01515. A Celebration of Life will be held at Kevin and Wink’s, 358 Chase Rd, Thompson CT, Saturday, November 7th at 1 o’clock. Masks and social distancing is requested.
