Subscription Update Obituary

       Matteo J. “Marty” Baroni, 89 of Worcester, passed away peacefully Friday May 12th in St. Vincent Hospital after a brief illness.

Marty is survived by his devoted wife and partner of 55 years, Anna D. (Galantino) Baroni; two sons, Francis P. Baroni, Stephen A. Baroni and his wife Deborah all of Worcester; a daughter, Jane and her husband Dr. Henry Rosendo of Woodland Hills California; five grandchildren, Stephen Jr and Jessica Baroni, Kristen, Kimberlee and Matthew Rosendo; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Three brothers, Carmen, John and Joseph Baroni, and a sister, Anna Fusaro predeceased him. Marty was born in Worcester son of the late, Joseph and Philomena (Baroni) Baroni. He graduated from North High, attended Northeastern University, and had lived here all his life. Marty was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in two wars, World War II, and Korea.

Marty worked over 20 years as an ironworker/welder for the Ironworkers Union Local 57, before retiring in 1983. Marty took part in the construction of many buildings including the Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant, the Worcester Center Galleria, and the Worcester Glass Tower Building. He previously worked for Wright Wire Company, for 19 years.

Marty was a member and daily Mass attendee of St. Margaret Mary Church. A member of the Froshinn Club, the Greendale Retired Men’s Club, and the Leisure Club. Marty loved to dance, bowl, walk, and golf.
