Subscription Update Obituary

Mary R. Johnson, 83, of Warren Road, passed away April 25th, 2026, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She leaves her two sons; Robert Johnson of Shrewsbury and Timothy Johnson of Auburn, sisters Bernadette Dick of Florida and Patricia Brewer of Florida, 4 grandsons Daniel, Michael, Steven, and Zachary, a granddaughter Jillian, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband John, brother John McDonald, and sister Isabella Rose.

Mary was born in Brooklyn, NY, and was the daughter of the late John and Anna McDonald. She graduated from Bushwick High School in Queens NY in 1960. She was married on July 18th, 1964. She lived in Queens, NY with her husband until they moved to Auburn, MA in 1971. She worked in Manhattan as an administrative assistant for an attorney on Wall Street, held multiple retail and office jobs, and was a teacher’s aide at Randall School in Auburn, MA. Mary loved and lived for her children and grandchildren. She also loved traveling, especially to Saba, Saint-Martin, Ireland, and Disney World. She loved her home in Auburn, her yard, and enjoyed talking to her neighbors.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday May 8th from 5-7PM at the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St. Auburn. Funeral service and burial will be held privately for her family.
