Subscription Update Obituary

     Mary E. (Novash)(Shliapa) Winsky, 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Holy Trinity Nursing Home in Worcester. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Vaclas and Antoinette (Baltrakaitis) Navasinskas and lived in Worcester all of her life. She is survived by 2 daughters, Christine Sandberg and her husband Richard of Worcester and Laura R. Domino of Pennsylvania; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband, Steven, who died in 1994, and her son, Walter F. Shliapa, Jr. who died in 2016, as well as one brother and four sisters.

During her early years, Mary worked in both the retail and food industries. Although having many heartaches and hardships during her life, she never stopped loving and caring. She gave of what little she had to whoever was in need. She enjoyed many years hosting family holidays and celebrations as well as getting together with family and friends. She spent time volunteering in local government and enjoyed weekly bingo games. She was also an active member of Sacred Heart Church in Worcester.

A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, March 20th, 2018, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Nordgren Funeral Home, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester. A mass of Christian burial will follow in Sacred Heart Church, 600 Cambridge Street, Worcester at 11:30 AM. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Lung Association, 460 Totten Pond Road, Suite 400, Waltham, MA. 02451 or to The American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA., 01701.

The family would like to thank the staff at Holy Trinity Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Facility for their compassionate care and attention given to Mary while under their care, especially Eileen, Tony and many others. Mary was also blessed to have had wonderful friends during her time at Holy Trinity including Judy, Arlene and Marie.
