Mary (Salvatore) Pascarelli, 79, of Worcester, a devoted mother and grandmother and great grandmother passed away surrounded by the family she loves April 9th, 2015.
Born Mary A. Salvatore, on March 2nd 1936, she was one of five children of John and Josephine (Brown) Salvatore. She grew up, raised her family and lived in Worcester all her life.
In her early adult years Mary was a renown competitive swimmer in Worcester County and the recipient of multiple awards medals and titles
Very personable, Mary loved being around people. She served as Hostess/Dining manager for the former Driftwood Restaurant in Shrewsbury before it closed and then as a server/ hostess for Leo Turo’s restaurant before retiring.
Mary is survived by the family she cherished and who cherished her: her three children, Robert Pascarelli and his wife Lisa, Gina M. Smith and her husband Gary all of Worcester, Richard A. Pascarelli and his partner Bryan Texeira of Melrose; four grandchildren, Melissa (Smith) Andersen and her husband Brian, Alicia Pascarelli, Brian Smith and Gianna Pascarelli; a great grandson, Cole; her former husband of 24 years, Henry Pascarelli of Falmouth; brother, Peter Salvatore of Shrewsbury and sister, Amanda Teczar of Worcester; many nieces nephews, extended family members and friends; her longtime companion and best friend, Charles Fernandes; a brother, John “Jack” Salvatore and sister, Carmella Morris all predeceased her.
Mary was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, the Pope John Counsel Knights of Columbus Women’s Auxiliary, the Beato Angelo and Red Hat Societies. She enjoyed the ocean, gardening, cooking, dancing and entertaining family and friends. She was well know for the parties she would host and her infamous pizza.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Monday, April 13th from 5 pm to 8 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Tuesday, April 14th from the funeral home with a procession to Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 am. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association , 128 Providence St. #5, Worcester, MA 01604.
