Subscription Update Obituary

     Mary A. (D’Angelo) Fitzgerald, 84 of Worcester, passed away peacefully in UMass Medical Center on Saturday, October 3, 2015, which would have been her 51st wedding anniversary.

Mary’s husband, William F. Fitzgerald passed away on May 1, 2002. She is survived by her four sons, Bob Fitzgerald and his wife Hong, Russell Fitzgerald all of Worcester, John Fitzgerald and his wife Tammy of Holden and Thomas Fitzgerald and his wife Stacy of Auburn; her brother and sister, Carmen D’Angelo and his wife Tina and Lucy D’Angelo all of Worcester; her lifelong best friend Anna Mae Gentile of Worcester; eight grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Mary was born in Worcester, a daughter to the late Bonafacio and Assunta (Curci) D’Angelo. She grew up on the corner of Muskeego and Shrewsbury Street, graduated from Commerce High School, Class of 1949 and has been a resident here all her life. Mary worked for many years as a secretary for Worcester Public Schools. She was a member of Christ the King Church and a former member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church where she was involved in the Our Lady of Sorrows Women’s Society. Mary loved to cook, root for her Boston Sports teams and spend time with her grandchildren.

Services for Mary will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2015 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 10 am in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St. Burial next to her husband will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A period of visitation for Mary will be held on Wednesday, October 7th from 4-7 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: Jimmy Fund, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 970025, Boston MA 02297-0025.
