Subscription Update Obituary

     Mary A. (Spadea) Brooks, 88, of Conway Drive, died Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus, after an unexpected illness. She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Paul N. Brooks of Leicester, who died in 1993. She is survived by four children, Paul N. Brooks Jr. and his wife Susan of Cherry Valley, Shirley M. Perron and her husband Robert of Leicester, Philip E. Brooks and his wife Susan of Leicester, and Marilyn Y. Lamprey and her husband Daniel of Leicester; a brother, James Spadea of Worcester; two sisters, Rose Spadea and Josephine Andrukonis, both of Worcester; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 8 step great grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by three sisters, Pauline Tenney, Carmella Amato, and Anne Bailey. She was born in Woonsocket, RI, daughter of the late Gregorio and Diega (Santoro) Spadea, and lived most of her life in Leicester.

Mrs. Brooks was a homemaker, dedicating her time to her home, children, and grandchildren. She had several part-time jobs over the years. She was a former member of Our Lady of the Angels Church in Worcester. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, and watching classic movies.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 7, 2016, at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St., Worcester. Please meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Calling hours are Sunday, November 6, 2016, from 4-6 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association , P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
