Subscription Update Obituary

Marilyn D. (Genander) Stake, 91 of Worcester, MA, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024, after a brief illness, with her loving family by her side. Marilyn was born in Boston, MA to Elizabeth Whitaker on September 4, 1932.

Marilyn leaves behind her six children: Paul (Patty) Sioda, Cynthia Humphrey, Suzanne (Bruce) Johnston, Curtis (Linda) Stake, Robert (Lisa) Stake, with whom she lived, and John (Heather) Stake.

Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, Fred, son, Fred Jr., grandson, John, and great-granddaughter, Stella. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters. Marilyn also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, who brought her much joy. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Marilyn worked as a nurse at the Psychiatric Unit at St. Vincent’s Hospital for over 35 years, retiring in 2010.

Marilyn was an avid New England sports fan – especially the Boston Celtics. She also enjoyed reading and playing Keno.

There will be calling hours on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 10am until 12pm at Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester, MA, a funeral service in the funeral home will begin at 12pm. Burial will be held privately, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Marilyn’s name to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St., Worcester, MA 01606
