Marilyn C. “Mitch” (Mitchell) Pontbriand,85, of Pine Ave in Sturbridge, died Tuesday, May 16th. in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester.

She leaves her husband of 64 years, Jean R. Pontbriand, her sons; Michael J. Pontbriand and his wife Laura of Fredericksburg, VA, Mark R. Pontbriand and his wife Anna of Tucson, AZ., Brian A. Pontbriand of E.Brookfield, and Barry A. Pontbriand and his wife Christina of Daphney, Ala., 10 grandchildren; Rebecca, Barry, Jr., Faith, Bradley, Joshua, Jeremy, Tyler, Korey and Keith, Alexandrea, 7 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She is deceased by her twin brother, Carl Mitchell.

She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Henry and Claire (Gendreau) Mitchell and later graduated from David Prouty High School and Worcester State College.

Mitch was an administrative assistant for both the Spencer Health & Sewer Departments for 21 years, retiring in 1999.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 23 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Calling hours are Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mary, Queen of the Rosary Parish, 49 Maple St., Spencer, Ma 01562.
