Maria Luisa (D’Amato) Iorio, 88, of Worcester passed away peacefully December 10, 2023. Luisa was born in Italy to Alessandro and Felicia (Iovanni) D’Amato.  She is survived by her loving children Julia, Sabrina, Armando and wife Svetlana, Maria and husband Jim. She cherished her ten grandchildren Nicholas and wife Jackelyn, Joshua and wife Lily, Melissa and husband Louis, Kristen and husband Jonathan, Ashley, Brittany, Tyler, Ryan, Jenna, and Luca and one great grandchild, Bailey Iorio.  She leaves a sister Elena in Italy and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Giovanni and siblings Nina, Andrea and Sal.

Luisa was a strong woman. While teaching herself English and raising four children, she ran her own business as a talented seamstress for many years, happily working on her craft to design expertly tailored pieces for her customers.  She continued this work well into her golden years, including for important family events. Luisa was an amazing cook.  Her meatballs and pizza, to name a couple of specialties, were beloved by all.  She especially loved feeding her grandchildren during family meals – such “good boys and girls” she would say.  Despite her small stature, Luisa had a big heart and a passion for welcoming loved ones to her table.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday December 13, 2023 from 9:30am to 11:00am at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00am with interment to follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
