Marguerite M. “Mary” (DiCarlo) Morrissey, 90, of Worcester passed away peacefully at Knollwood Nursing Center on Monday, January 27, 2020.

Mary was born in Worcester, daughter of, Nicholas and Amelia (Mancini) DiCarlo. Her husband, John W. “Jack” Morrissey, passed away last year. She leaves behind her four sons; John P. Morrissey of Fort Myers Florida, Stephen J. Morrissey and his wife Glenda of North Brookfield, David W. Morrissey and his wife Karen of Auburn, and Michael J. Morrissey and his wife Ann Marie of Spencer; ten grandchildren, Jonathan, Jarrad, Kristen, Eric, Matthew, Daniel, Katie, Kimberly, Jeffrey and Jennifer; a brother, Joseph DiCarlo of Auburn; two sisters, Carol Catino and her husband, Robert of Auburn and Elizabeth Beriau and her husband, Joseph of Worcester and nieces and nephews. Her younger sister, Ann DiCarlo predeceased her.

Mary graduated from Commerce High School. She worked for several years at Saint Francis Nursing Home before retiring. She was a long-time member of St. Stephen’s Church.

Mary and Jack were an inseparable couple for 65 years. Their family was their passion and greatest love. Mary loved cooking and baking and would never arrive to a party empty handed. She was well known for her healthy eating and happily passed on her favorite recipes to her family.

Years ago, Mary and Jack traveled to Medjugorje on a spiritual pilgrimage. Mary never stopped talking about her beautiful experience there. Afterwards, she showered her family with many religious sacramentals, which are still cherished today.

Most importantly, Mary was devoted to her Catholic faith. She would always talk about the Lord to her children and grandchildren. She was a woman of prayer and loved to say the rosary. Her favorite channel was EWTN. She enjoyed reading religious books and aspired to share her faith with others. She was a gentle person, who wouldn’t say an unkind word about anyone. She tried her best to be the hands and feet of the Lord by not hesitating to serve others.

Although our grief is great, our consolation is knowing with the beautiful faith Mary has passed on to us, that she is now resting eternally in the arms of Jesus.

Visiting hours for Mary will be held Thursday, January 30, from 4 to 7 pm at Callahan Fay Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street. A funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 31, at 10 am at Saint Stephen’s Church, 357 Grafton Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Stephen’s Church.
