Subscription Update Obituary

     Margerita P. “Lil” (Russo) Laconte, 90, of Worcester a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully Thursday, February 7th 2013 with her family by her side.
Lil was born in Worcester, one of eight children of Michael and Angelina (Torressa) Lorusso. She attended Worcester Public Schools, took a position as a stitcher for the former Worcester Knitting Company. She then met and married the man who would be her devoted husband for the next 67 years, Carmine J. Laconte. Together they settled in the Lincoln Street neighborhood, and Lil began her career as a typical Italian mother devoting herself to her husband and daughters. She has lived here all her life.
     Lil is survived by her beloved husband, Carmine J. Laconte; her two devoted daughters, Anne Weagle and her husband Gary of Rutland, Marie Araujo and her husband Theophilus of Edgartown Mass; her two grandsons, David Weagle and his wife Linley, Andrew Weagle and his wife Katie; a brother, Ralph Russo and his wife Tina, and a sister, Mary Ciuffredo of Worcester; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Five other siblings, Frank, Samuel, and Patsy Russo, Mary Carilo and Grace Lorusso all pre deceased her.
     Lil was devoted to her faith and an active member of St. Joan of Arc Church. She attended mass daily and recited the Rosary several times a day. She was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family, especially her grandsons. She loved to sew, crochet and bake.
     Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 12th. From the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St Joan of Arc Church, 570 Lincoln St. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. A period of calling hours will be held Tuesday, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the departing for the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances in Lil’s name can be made to the Carmelite Nuns, c/o Carmelite Monastery, 275 Pleasant Street, Concord, NH 03301-2590 or the sisters of St Joseph of Springfield, c/o Mont Marie, 34 Lower Westfield Rd., Holyoke, MA 01040-2739.
