Subscription Update Obituary

     Marcia F. DiLeo, 74, of Worcester, MA, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on February 22, 2018 after a period of declining health.

Marcia was born on January 14, 1944 in Worcester, where she lived all her life. She is predeceased by her parents, Harold T. Richmond and Estelle M. (Sirk) Richmond.

Marcia was a graduate of the former Classical High School of Worcester and then continued her education. She received her Radiology Certification from Norwood Hospital and Northeastern University. She also worked as a nurse’s aide for over twenty years at the former Salisbury Nursing Home in Worcester. Later in life Marcia enjoyed her Avon business with her husband Chet helping her. Chet and Marcia were inseparable.

At Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, she actively participated as a Christian Doctrine teacher with Chet and more recently as a Eucharistic minister with Chet. Marcia also volunteered with her husband for many years as Coordinators and presenters for the Worcester Catholic Engaged Encounter- a Pre-Cana program preparing couples for marriage.

Marcia had a zest for life with her cooking skills, her summers at Cape Cod, her Avon business and being with family and friends. She was always part of the family events and past on the traditions of the Italian sauce and meatballs to her children.

She leaves her beloved husband, Chester D. DiLeo, with whom she spent fifty-three years together, three loving daughters, Lisa Sullivan, and her husband, Michael, of Worcester, Ma, Michele Terrien of Auburn, Ma, Lauri Brunelle and her husband James, of Worcester; her son, David S. DiLeo and his loving companion Teresa Piwowarczyk of Worcester and seven cherished grandsons.

The family would also like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at UMass Medical Hospital for their warmth and compassion.

A period of calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2018 from 4-7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 26th at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Rd., Worcester. (Please go directly to church) Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in memory of Marcia F. DiLeo to: Cancer Center of Excellence Unrestricted, UMass Medicine Office of Advancement, 333 South St, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
