Lucy A. (Ceffalo) Ushkurnis, 96 a lifelong Worcester resident passed away peacefully Monday, January 2, 2023, at home surrounded by loved ones.

Lucy was born, September 29, 1926, in Worcester, one of ten children of William “Vito” and Lena (Troio) Ceffalo.  She graduated from Classical High School, married Richard A. Ushkurnis and lived a life of Love, devotion, dedication, and family until Richard left her side in 1985.  Lucy lived in the Lincoln Street neighborhood of Worcester she loved, for more than 68 years.   Lucy worked a short distance from her home as a supervisor for the State Mutual Life Insurance Company.  She notably regularly walked to work and back when possible.

Lucy is survived by her three devoted children,  Donna Hesson with whom she lived, Deborah Dooley of Grafton, Craig Ushkurnis, and his wife Lisa of Framingham; eight grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; Many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.   Lucy has been predeceased by many loved ones,  including her husband Richard Sr, son, Richard Jr., five sisters, Mary, Antoinette, Jenny, Philomena and Gracie and four brothers, Georgie, Johnny, Franky,  and Anthony.

Lucy was a founding member of St Joan of Arc church. She enjoyed entertaining, the holidays, her neighbors and being around her family.  Her grandchildren were special to her, and she found her greatest moments with them around her.

A Lucy’s request, services, and burial in Worcester County Memorial Park, next to Richard will be held privately.   The are no calling hours.  THE MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
