Louise Lillian Lessard Lenahan 95, of Worcester, passed away peacefully at Care One Millbury on Thursday, January 6, 2022, with loved ones gathered at her side.

She is survived by her daughters Nancy Madaio and her husband Rich of Worcester, Susan DiStefano and her husband Sal of Shrewsbury; her sons, Richard Lenahan and his wife Helene of Oakham and Fort Pierce Fl., David Lenahan of Worcester, and John Lenahan and his wife Stephanie of Shrewsbury; her devoted daughter in law, Penny Lenahan, Michael’s wife, of Webster; a son in law, Chuck Couch, Linda’s husband, of Texas; her 14 grandchildren, 17 great- grandchildren and 1 great- great grandchild; her siblings, Normand Lessard of CT, Roland Lessard of Fl, Wilfred Lessard of AZ and Constance Nardone of Sudbury, MA.  Louise was predeceased by her husband Raymond, her daughter Linda and son Mike as well as her siblings Conrad, Victor, Bernie, Robert, Raymond, Sylvia, Pauline and Jacqueline.

She was born in Nashua NH, the  daughter of Elphege and Florence (Davis) Lessard. During WWII Louise  worked in a factory in NH making supplies for the military. She then spent her working career as a telephone operator in many different organizations, most of which in the communications department of the Worcester Police Depart before retiring.

After retiring she volunteered at Wawecus Road School with her dear friend and neighbor Dolores, reading to the kindergarten classes. They called them “The Grandmothers”. She also volunteered at the local VA Clinic and local nursing homes doing crafts with the residence. For a period, Louise was the Junior Vice President of the Women’s Auxiliary at the West Boylston VFW Post 6907.  She loved Bingo and Bowling and was part of a Senior Candlepin Bowling League until her late 80’s. If asked where she wanted to go it was always a resounding Foxwoods!

Her faith was strong, and she would always tell us to “put it in Gods hands. She loved her family and was able to enjoy her last Christmas with them, we know that she is now in God’s hands.

A period of calling hours will be held, Thursday, January 13th from 9 am to 10:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 plantation Street, proceeding in procession to St Joan of Arc church, 570 Lincoln Street where her celebration of Christian burial Mass will be held at 11:00 am.  Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.  In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances in her name can be made to  St. John’s Parish Food Pantry, 30 Temple Street, Worcester.
