Subscription Update Obituary

     Louise (Girard) Foley, 85, of Webster, passed away under hospice care on September 11, 2014 while surrounded by her family. Her beloved husband of 23 years, Robert Foley died in 2001. She leaves her loving daughter Michaela June and husband David of Natick; her loving sister, Ernestine “Teena” Cherry and husband Donald of Leicester; two nephews, Donald Cherry of Leicester and wife Kathleen and Michael Cherry of Brookline and wife Jennifer. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Ernest and Florine (Vary) Girard. Louise graduated from Auburn High School in 1946 and from Maine Eye & Ear Infirmary in Portland, class of 1949. Mrs. Foley served on active duty in the Navy Nurse Corps during the Korean War. A Registered Nurse by training, Louise spent her career in health care. Louise served as Director of Marlborough/Westborough Day Hospital at Westborough State Hospital and Unit Director at Talbot Habilitation Program at Westborough State. Her career there spanned over 25 years until her retirement in 1993. Mrs. Foley resided on Summer St. in Northborough for 24 years before moving to Webster in 2000. In addition to a lifetime of caring for people, Mrs. Foley was an avid animal lover and volunteered her time at the Dog Orphans Humane Society.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2014 from 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St. Northborough. The funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Aloysius – St. Jude Parish, 489 Pleasant St. Leicester. Burial with military honors will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
