Louis R. Latino, a lifelong Worcester resident, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 27, 2014.
Louis was born on August 25, 1935, son of the late Joseph J. and Mary (Canzano) Latino. He graduated from South High School and later studied printing at Worcester Boys Trade School.
He was a master printer, working for many years at Saltus Press and Heffernan Press, both in Worcester. He also worked at Heywood Valley and Hammond Hill nursing homes for many years and later worked for the L. Farber Company, until his retirement. He served his country as a Staff Sergeant of the National Guard. Louis enjoyed playing chess, bocce, cards, Scrabble and other board games. He enjoyed horse racing, which led him to pen a column, “Lucky Louie’s Long Shots”. In later years, the Word of God and his Christian faith became a vital part of his life. He would share his faith and love for the Lord any chance he could. He was an avid scholar of the Bible, Hebrew language, and Jewish history and customs. He also was a devoted family man, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, and a dear friend to many. He leaves his beloved wife of 56 years, Joyce T. (Belcher) Latino, his five children, Michael J., John T., Sr., Joan M. Perna, Patricia A. Klimaszewski and Kathleen E. Latino; his step mother, Agnes Latino of Southbridge; his three sisters, Anna Peterson of Worcester, Barbara Dupuis of Southbridge, and Elizabeth Latino-Tesik of Vermont; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the Summit Eldercare, and especially Louis’ devoted caregiver Julia Sierra for her many years of kind and faithful service, which was so greatly appreciated.
A Celebration of Life service for Louis will be held on Saturday, August 2, at 10:00 a.m. at the Heritage Bible Chapel, 182 Brooks Station Road, Princeton. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Benevolence Fund, Heritage Bible Chapel, P.O. Box 1096, Princeton, MA 01541. Arrangements are under the care of the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
