Louis A. Iacovone, Jr., 79, of Oxford, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2020, at UMass Hospital in Worcester.

Louie is survived by his loving wife, Linda J. (Bottomly) Iacovone; four daughters, Angela Hebert of Oxford, Debra Romero of Stafford Springs, CT, Dianne Choruzek and her husband Stanley of Worcester, and Jeanne Iacovone of Southbridge; three sons, Michael Iacovone and his fiancé Martha Humphries of Worcester, Matt Bond of Wales, and David Bond and his wife Mary of TN; twenty-nine grandchildren, including Brittney and Samantha Iacovone, who he and Linda raised as daughters; eighteen great grandchildren; his constant companion, Lady the Cocker spaniel, many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a son, Michael Bond in 2014.   Louie is the last surviving of four children born to the late, Louis A. and Angelina (DeBonis) Iacovone.  He grew up in Worcester, graduated from Commerce High and attended Qunisigamond Community College.  He later moved to Barre before returning to Worcester and settling in Oxford three years ago.

Louie worked in a foundry and served as union steward.  He also worked as an addiction counselor for the Worcester County Sherriff’s Office and at the PIP Shelter.  He enjoyed driving school bus for many years, but no job gave him as much satisfaction as being a loving husband, dad, and grampy.

Calling Hours will be on Tuesday, September 22, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.  A graveside service will be on Wednesday, September 23 at 10 a.m. in the Garden of Faith at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.  COVID-19 precautions will be followed, such as the use of face masks and social distancing.
