Subscription Update Obituary

     Loretta P. (Garney) Nordgren, 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at the Worcester Health Center at Autumn Village. She was the widow of Walter F. Nordgren, to whom she was married for nearly 60 years. She leaves two children, Kevin F. Nordgren and his wife, Meryl and Lisa Fortin; 4 grandchildren, Matthew, Daniel, and Nicole Fortin and Dominic Lelgeman; 2 great-grandchildren, Zoey Pratt-Fortin and Gabriella Fortin; a brother and 5 sisters, Lawrence Garney, Elizabeth Budzinski, Priscilla LeBlond, Thelma Whittaker, Barbara O’Sullivan, and JoAnne Tetrault; and nieces & nephews and their families. She was predeceased by 2 brothers and a sister, George Garney Jr., Geneva Fournier and Roland Garney. Loretta was born in Plattsburgh, NY, daughter of the late Bessie (Geroux) and George A. Garney. She was a bakery worker in food services at Saint Vincent Hospital for many years. Loretta enjoyed camping, bowling and Cape Cod. She loved spending time with her family and she will be remembered as a good-hearted person by all of her family and friends.

Calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. on Monday, Sept. 1, from 5-8pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 2, from Nordgren’s with a 10am Mass at St. Stephen’s Church, 357 Grafton St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472 or the American Diabetes Association, Attn: Memorials, 1701 N Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA 22311.
