Lena M. (Capurso) Harvey, 95, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 17, 2024. Lena was born in Worcester, on June 21, 1928, daughter of Ralph and Anna (DeFeudis) Capurso.

Lena is survived by her beloved husband of fifty-four years, William R. Harvey; three loving children, William Harvey, Jr. and his wife Donna of Spencer, David Harvey of Auburn, Laureen Hayes and her husband Henry “Jimmy” of Worcester; her adored eleven grandchildren; her cherished eighteen great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Sadly, in addition to her parents, Lena was predeceased by her nine siblings, Joseph, Nicholas, Domenic, Carlo, and Maurice Capurso, Mary Lamanuzi, Lucy Mitchell, Rose Cipro, and Lucretia Stano.

Lena worked for many years as a seamstress for Slovin Slacks. She enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. Everyone will miss her cookies very much.  She was an avid Casino goer who loved to play Bingo and gamble. Lena was known for always looking her best. There was never a hair out of place. She loved to shop. Lena had an art for getting a good bargain. She would get all her coupons together and go out to the department stores and shop until she got everything she wanted. She loved nothing more than spending time and making memories with the children in her life.

The calling hour will be Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 9:30a.m. until 10:30a.m. at the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.  Her Funeral Service will begin at 10:30a.m. with interment to follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lena’s memory to the Resident Council Fund in Care of Christopher House, 10 Mary Scano Drive, Worcester, MA 01605.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at the Christopher House for their special care they showed Lena over her time there.
