Subscription Update Obituary

     Lawrence J. Teixeira, 72, of Worcester, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2010 in Golden Living Center, Worcester.

     Lawrence is survived by his son, Antonio E. Teixeira of Worcester as well as nieces and nephews, Georgia Floyd, Talvina “Sue”, Karen, Linda, George, Cathy and Lorna Young, Laurie Riley, Lee Clark, Corena Dixon, Dee, Kevin, and Paula Teixeira; a brother-in-law, Waverly Taylor and sister-in-law, Joanne Teixeira; many great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters, Edward, Philip and John Teixeira, Anna Taylor and Talvina Young, and also by a nephew, Steven Teixeira.

     Lawrence was born in Worcester, son of Antonio and Mildred Rose (Gunn) Teixeira and has lived here all his life. He graduated from Commerce High School and served his nation proudly in the United States Army.

     Lawrence worked for many years at Norton-Saint Gobain, before retiring in 2003. He was a member of Belmont A.M.E. Zion Church, and was a Preacher Steward under the Pastoral Guidance of Nathaniel K. Perry from 1988-1991. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and loved to be with his family, friends and his church family.

     Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 27, from 11 a.m. until 12 Noon, in Belmont A.M.E. Zion Church, 55 Illinois Street, Worcester, followed with his Funeral Service at 12 Noon in the church. Interment with Military Honors will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his church.
