Subscription Update Obituary

     Kirol E. “Dan” Kowal, 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012. Dan leaves his devoted wife of 60 years, Rose M. (Ouellette) Kowal; a son, Richard P. Kowal and his wife Phaedra of Spencer; three grandchildren, Jillian Burdett and her husband Jason of Oxford, Amanda Cardin and her husband Adam of Worcester and Christopher Kowal of Rocky Hill, CT; two great-grandchildren, Taylor & Natalie Burdett; a brother, Roger Kowal and his wife Theresa of Spencer; two step-grandchildren, Greg Thomas and his wife Angela of Leominster and Scott Thomas of Lancaster and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a daughter, Patricia A. Kowal and three brothers, John, Eugene and Julian Kowal.
Mr. Kowal was born in Spencer, son of Joseph and Julianna (Sura) Kowal. He was a galvanizer for many years at G.F. Wright Steel & Wire Co. in Worcester before retiring in 1990. He served his country during WW II in the United States Navy. He was a former member of the Spencer Men’s Club and the American Legion Post 138, Spencer. He was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church. Dan enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and playing cards.
On Monday, Nov. 5 friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family during a calling hour from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr.Spencer. The funeral Mass will follow at 12 p.m at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial with Military Honors will be at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dan’s memory to Summit Elder Care, 88 Masonic Home Road, Charlton, MA 01507.
